Snook closes gadget shop

Well known indie retailer Eric Snook has closed his gadget shop and taken it online only.
Publish date:

The Gadgets & Gizmos shop in Sidmouth Street has closed and will be replaced by an online service. Snook said the lease on the shop was up for renewal in September and he had decided to close it.

He is continuing with his other shops, a gadget shop in Covent Garden and The Golden Cot, a nursery and Snook’s Toy Shop in Bath.

Snook opened the shop in November 2007. It sold a diverse range of toys and gadgets and catered for adults and children.

He said: “Opening a shop in Devizes was an experiment. We did what we wanted to do and it gave us the direction we wanted to go in which is to sell merchandise online.

“Devizes is a nice town, I love it. Business was generally good but we can sell goods online without the overheads of a shop.”

No rescue for Gadget Shop

Hopes of a rescue package for the Gadget Shop chain, which has been operating in administration, have been dashed after two prospective buyers pulled out and the firm will now close.
