Scrabble is sponsoring James Ketchell as he attempts to beat the current record of rowing 3,600 miles across the Indian Ocean within 85 days.
Starting on May 9th, Ketchell will be rowing alongside epilepsy sufferer Ashley Wilson to raise money for the Young Epilepsy, Elifar Foundation and Scouts charities.
During the row, both will be playing Scrabble to keep them both entertained and to maintain their focus and concentration.
“As a keen Scrabble player, I am looking forward to testing my wordsmith skills against Ash as we embark on this epic challenge," said Ketchell.
"The challenge is not only physical, but also about mental strength so Scrabble is a great way to ensure we keep our minds active and focused whilst at sea.”
Performance psychologist, David Young, added: “When embarking on any physical challenge, training your mind to deal with it is just as critical as training your body. Keeping your mind stimulated helps you focus but also helps to bring some light relief to what can be very challenging times.”
Dominic Geddes, VP & Country Manager, CNE, added: “We are delighted to be supporting James and Ashley in this fantastic challenge and hope Scrabble will give them some welcomed downtime. We look forward to welcoming them home in July.”
