Scottish toy shop The Toy Castle is closing following almost a generation of offering youngsters traditional and innovative toys.

The independent family-run toy store first opened its doors in 1988 by owners Maureen and Dennis Fenton.

The shop held its eminent position on Forfar’s Castle Street for almost 30 years, but will now close as the pair decide to retire from the business.

“It feels like it has only been about ten years,” Maureen Fenton told The Courier.

“I have loved every minute of it, but you know when the time is right to retire and that time is now.”

The toy store has seen many a craze pass through its doors throughout its duration, including the Real Ghostbusters, Furbies and Teletubbies.

The store will close its doors for the last time on May 30th 2015.
