The programme will air firstly in the US, UK and then around the world.
Whilst considering the output of paper mills, the television production company were looking for innovative uses of paper, and discovered Richard Edwards’ production capabilities in manufacturing playing cards and games cards.
Filming took place on-site at Richard Edward with members of the firm's operational team, providing narrative on the processes and skills required.
To help the viewer understand the processes, a pack of playing cards featuring the ‘How do they do it?’ logo were produced whilst the crew were on site.
The paper making processes were also filmed at the mill, together with coverage of the final product being used in a game-playing scenario.
Richard Edward will feature in a thirty-minute episode, to be broadcast on the Discovery Channel in June and August 2011.
‘How do they do it?’ is a programme that focuses on everyday objects, and how they are produced. The programme regularly records viewer numbers around the world of 150 million.
