Residents of Kent have only a matter of hours to vote on which town will feature in the new version of Monopoly, slated for release in time for Christmas.

Each year, the game’s manufacturer creates special edition festive boards, giving the public the chance to choose what will feature in the game.

“This year, the dice has rolled on Kent,” said Graham Barnes, PR officer at Winning Moves Ltd, the game’s manufacturers."

Kent inhabitants are being called upon to vote what town or city will take pride of place on the board this season, with Canterbury, Dover, Maidenhead, margate and Tunbridge Wells in the running.

The public are also able to nominate landmarks or famous streets they would like to see as squares on the board, reports Kent Online.

At present, both Canterbury and Dover are leading the votes.

“We look for landmarks that will fill the board and make it a great joy to play,” continued Barnes.

“People can buy their favourite place and even bankrupt someone on that place.

“We have done the research and we are absolutely sure it will be full of crown jewels for the town or city chosen.”

The new board will mark the second time the county has experienced Monopoly stardom and follows the 2002 special Kent Edition that stayed in shops until around 2007.

Voting is already well under way, and will end at midnight (Monday, March 17th).

The winning town or city will be announced in early April.
