Popular videogame title Bloodborne is being transformed into a new tabletop board game.

The officially licensed game will be developed by the renowned card game designer Eric Lang, the name behind numerous hit licensed games including A Game of Thrones: The Card Game.

Lang detailed the spin-off board game via his own Twitter page earlier this week.

“For those who follow me and have got to know my silly codenames for games-in-progress, this is Project Dream,” he said.

The game will be published by the game developing house Cool Mini Or Not and promises to be “a simple but highly deep and interactive card game.”

According to Lang, the Bloodborne card game will be “based on the Chalice dungeon runs, where players compete to kill monsters and take their blood.

“My goal with Bloodborne was to channel the intensity and frustration of the videogame into a contest between players. Lots of death,” he concluded.

Bloodborne is a 2015 videogame for PlayStation 4 that takes players through a fictional Gothic, Victorian era in which inhabitants have been infected by an abnormal blood-borne disease.

The game was met with widespread critical acclaim upon its release, championed for its use of atmosphere and visuals.

A release date for the spin-off board game is yet to be confirmed.
