Poundstretcher appoints new head of marketing

Discount retailer Poundstretcher is continuing its plans for growth this year, with the appointment of a new head of marketing.

Carl Sutton has taken up the newly created role following 13 years at Wilko where he was responsible for brand development, store experience and through the line campaigns.

Sutton will report to the group’s managing director, Ian York, who joined the retailer in October 2014.

He will work towards implementing change in approach of the brand’s marketing communication plan.

“Poundstretcher is a brand I have followed for many years having recognised its potential as a big player in the discount retail sector.

“The discount market is o competitive at the moment and joining the team at Poundstretcher at such a crucial time as the brand embarks on a significant period of change is a challenge I am very excited about.”

Managing director, York, added: “Carl’s newly crated role will help us streamline our marketing and communications and ensure we raise the profile of the business.

“It’s a very exciting time for us and I am delighted to have Carl on board.”

Poundstretcher is now one of the UK’s largest discount retailers with 409 stores nationwide.
