One-third of Americans will purchase fewer toys this festive season, according to a poll conducted by market researcher, Harris Interactive.

The poll also found 45 per cent of Americans will avoid buying toys manufactured in China.

2,500 US adults took part in the online survey, which was conducted between October 9th and 15th.

However, Harris said in its study that the anecdotal data may not bear out.

“It will be interesting to see if the attitudes that people expressed pre-holiday shopping are ones that they will follow through on when in the stores on shopping online," the study said.
