PLAY-ROOM: 68 suppliers signed

Newly formed buying-group continues to canvass for more suppliers.

The new toy-division of Associated Independent Stores (AIS), Play-room, now has 100 retail outlets and 68 suppliers on board, following its official launch only two weeks ago.

Promising to offer its members a wide range of toys and related products through its payment system, Cenpac, the new division of the non-food buying group is looking to appoint between 20 and 30 more suppliers and add to its retailer base.

Joyce Daly, controller of the toy division, told ToyNews the reaction from retailers has been extremely pleasing.

“Trading conditions are very challenging at present and we do not underestimate the task ahead but we are very pleased with the number of orders already invoiced through our central payment system,” Daly said.

Breyer UK is just one of many firms which has signed up as a supplier of the group. MD Tony Mills added: "Breyer UK was among a number of suppliers chosen to showcase its products to new and potential members of Play-Room at the event, and we are now looking forward to welcoming new and existing members of AIS as Breyer customers in the near future."
