Philips makes Marvel move

Marvel International is looking to make a bigger impact in the licensing sector, appointing former 4Kids Entertainment MD Simon Philips as its new president.

Philips will take up his new role on November 13th and will oversee the consumer products group. He will be aiming to maximise Marvel's international presence by developing licensing campaigns for both the company's major movie events and its core classic comic book characters.

"With Simon's vast experience and fresh perspective, he is the perfect addition to the Marvel team," said John Turitzin, executive VP, office of the chief executive. "International licensing is one of the largest and most important growth categories for Marvel. We are confident Simon will support and strengthen our global vision for the company."

Philips has more than 15 years experience in the licensing business - beginning his career at the British Olympic Committee before moving to IL&M, then the Atlantic Paralympic Organising Committee and LDI. He joined 4Kids three years ago.
