The Perudo World Championships has had to close registration after just 24 hours, as an overwhelming number of players look to enter this year’s qualifiers.

For the second year running, the 50 highly sought after places in London’s qualifier rounds, taking place this September, have been filled within hours of the event’s announcement.

The 50 players lucky enough to secure their place in the tournament will now get the chance to prove their worth at The W London Hotel in Leicester Square on Wednesday, September 23rd.

The top two finalists will qualify to play against other regional finalists in the World Championships famously held at London’s Groucho Club and previously hosted by TV personality, Konnie Huq in November.

Run by Paul Lamond Games, the Perudo World Championships is now in it 26th year; that’s over a quarter of a century of players lying their way through the popular dice game to reach the final event.

“It is fantastic to see the growing popularity of Perudo and our qualifying events,” said Richard Wells, sales director at Paul Lamond Games.

“To close registration for the event after just 24 hours is incredible and for this to occur two years running is testament to the growing reputation of the game.

“2015 marks 26 years of Perudo, which is played in universities and clubs around the world and in an age of technology games and toys this family game is enjoying an ongoing increase in sales.”

Qualifying events have already been held in Glasgow in May, while the South Coast event will take place on Tuesday, September 29th at The Concorde Club, Hampshire.

Perudo retails for around £17.95.
