Oxford launching Top Gear Challenge range

Oxford Diecast is launching a range of Top Gear Challenge-licensed vehicles at Toy Fair.
Publish date:

The line will feature cars from the English Channel crossing challenge, when the presenters had to convert a normal car into a sea-going vehicle and cross from
Dover to Calais.

Also featured are the Triumph Herald Yacht which sank with James May aboard on its first attempt; Richard Hammond’s converted VW Transporter Van - the ‘Dampervan’ and the ‘Nissank’ as driven by Jeremy Clarkson which successfully carried all three
presenters to France.

The models will be accurate scale representations of the cars, and be fully adapted for the Channel crossing – just like the originals. Each will be available in individually presented display cases.

The models are expected to sell at £11.99 each and be available for retailers to order from The Toy Fair onwards.

Tim Mulhall, national accounts manager, explained: "There’s hardly a person in the UK who’s not seen Top Gear on TV and the exploits of the three presenters. At a recent product development meeting our team realised that a huge level of interest in the ‘Challenges’ given to the presenters during the shows could result in some highly desirable models."
