More than 250 exhibitors at the 2012 Nuremberg Toy Fair have given away over 3,000 toys shown at the event.

The toys were given to schools, day nurseries, associations, trusts and children’s aid organisations in Franconia.

For years Spielwarenmesse has organised the handover of toy donations to social institutions in Franconia.

Headmistres of Bauernfeindschool in the south of Nuremberg, Adelheid Marčinko, said: "Toys are always in short supply, so we are always very pleased about the many donations we receive from the International Toy Fair. We have just renovated the lunchtime care room and had to throw out many things.

"Thanks to the donations, the children can move into a colourfully decorated room with many new toys. It’s lovely to feel the children’s enthusiasm for playing."
