Planned for the first quarter of 2011, The NPD Group will add five additional retailers to the 19-strong retail panelists, providing POS data for all major toy categories.
Department stores Debenhams and John Lewis, High Street chains Next and Wilkinsons and online specialist Play.com will join the existing retailers to deliver the most representative view of the market to date.
“With the many changes that have occurred in the UK retail landscape over the last couple of years, many retailers have increased the space dedicated to toys, not only for Christmas, but all year round,” said Jez Fraser-Hook, director of NPD’s UK toy service.
“A number of retailers have also developed extensive online offers, which places the UK well ahead of its big neighbours in terms of online offering. Our latest sample upgrade is meant to reflect this new British retail landscape.”
