Scottish Perudo champion Ian Smith has taken his place on the world stage having been crowned the 2015 World Perudo Champion.
Smith triumphed over strong competition at this year’s 26th annual championships, that saw Perudo players from across the UK gather to take part in the 2015 finals.
Hosted by Konnie Huq and held at The Grouch Club in Soho, the evening was as always filled with its usual dose of fun, tension, celebrities, buyers and of course Perudo finalists from the championship’s Scotland, London and Southampton events.
Participants spent an evening applying their craftiest strategieis to bluff their way through each round of the game commonly referred to as Liar’s Dice.
However, none bested Glasgow’s Smith who beat Jackie Ferguson in a final round labeled ‘tense’ by all who watched over it.
The event, organised and hosted by Paul Lamond, celebrated its quarter century in 2014.
Richard Wells, sales director of Paul Lamond Games, said: “The Perudo Championships has been running for over quarter of a century now and true to form, last night’s event was fast-paced, fun and full of nail biting tension. Ian did exceptionally well to battle it out to become the 2015 Champion.
“It is fantastic to see that in its 26th year, Perudo and the championships are still continuing to grow in popularity. For the second year running our London qualifying event was oversubscribed in less than 24 hours.
“It is a game that has a great following and evokes such passion and competitiveness along with the usual does of bluff, counterbluff and hilarity.”
The game retails for around £17.95 and is available at Harrods, Hamleys, John Lewis, WH Smith, Amazon and all good game shops.
