Zen Design Group is due to launch its See Toys product line in the US next month in its push to market green products.
See Toys stands for 'safety, ecology and economy'. Each product features a power crank that converts kids’ energy into electricity which then recharges the battery.
Company co-founder and president, Sun Yu said LED-based products are durable and adaptable and could take the company’s revenues to $10 million in the next year.
“My timing on this product really couldn’t be better. But I wasn’t trying to be trendy. I looked at my product line one day and though about how nice it would be to not have to replace and purchase batteries,” Yu said.
The toys are designed for children five and older and range from $19.99 to $29.99. The hero toy, Dynafly, is a bug with moveable arms and head and flexible antennae, which doubles as the power crank. When the crank is turned, the bug buzzes and laughs and lights up the eyes and tail.
Yu said the toys are to be marketed in the US before being launched in European countries. The toys will be available to purchase from the company’s website next month.
