Equitoy has elected product compliance expert Clive Shelton as its new chairman.

Shelton (pictured above left) takes over the role from Ravenden's Michael Papé. Kay Mycock from What Next Candy was elected as vice chair.

Shelton has advised Equitoy for over 25 years, and this marks the first time that Equitoy members have elected an advisor to chair the association.

Shelton commented: "Equitoy is the UK trade association for toy importers and provides important services targeted at that sector of the industry.

"It is a delight to be asked to chair Equitoy and I am flattered that the members put their trust in me to steer the development of the association. In these challenging times, our members need a rigorous but pragmatic approach to the advice they receive and I will do my best to maintain those values during my chairmanship.

"In particular, we will be improving our communication with members and adding to the services we provide. Equitoy has rightly gained a reputation for being a friendly and informative forum for companies in the toy industry to learn from each others' experiences. Our advisors keep members up to date and provide discounted business help when necessary as part of the members' subscriptions."

BTHA chairman's address

If I may, I should like to take just a few minutes to recall some of the issues and challenges faces by the BTHA in the past 18 months and some of the industry and BTHA challenges going forward.
