Ron Boire has been named president, taking on the responsibility of the firm’s Canadian operations. This will involve overseeing all merchandising, marketing and operations for Canada’s 67 locations and e-commerce business.
The president of Toys R Us, Canada, Monika Merz, will also report directly to Boire, who is already responsible for overseeing similar operations of the firm’s 586 stores in the US.
Boire said of his new position: “I am extremely excited about the opportunity to facilitate even more collaboration between our US and Canadian teams in advancing our toy authority and specialist positions”.
“The innovative new store formats developed by Monika and her team have been successfully implemented in our Toys R Us stores worldwide, and I look forward to the sharing of ideas that will result from our combined organisations,” he said.
Boire joined the firm in July 2006 as president of its US stores. Previous to this he was executive vice president and global merchandise manager for Best Buy.
