The first UK and Ireland regional heats for the Monopoly World Championships are kicking off this month.

Fans will have the chance to compete for a spot in the UK and Ireland final at The View From the Shard, with the winner travelling to Macau to represent their country at the World Championships.

A specially designed double-decker bus fitted with ten Monopoly tables is visiting 12 locations across the UK and Ireland to find the UK’s best Monopoly player, starting in Belfast on Saturday, May 30th.

Each regional event will play host to 80 adult and 80 junior competitors across four heats, marking 80 years of the classic game.

The winners from each heat will go through to the regional final later that day, before two winners are crowned (one from the adult pool and one from the junior pool).

Winners from each regional final will make it through to the UK and Ireland final, taking place on Sunday, July 19th.

“We’re travelling the UK and Ireland searching for the very best Monopoly players and giving fans of all ages the chance to reach the grand final," said Kay Green, Hasbro UK marketing director.

"The events are designed for the whole family in mind and are set to be a thrilling competition from start to finish.

“What better way for us to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Monopoly than for a British or Irish champion to bring home the World Championship title in Macau?”
