Mega Brands seals Nick deal

Mega Brands has inked an international licensing deal with Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products (NVCP) to produce toys based on three of the most popular Nick Jr. pre-school properties.

The deal gives Mega the rights to create toys based on Dora the Explorer, spin-off series Go, Diego, Go! and The Backyardigans. Initial products will launch in the US, Canada, the UK, France, Australia and Latin America in 2007, and in additional territories in 2008.

“We are excited to help bring Nickelodeon’s lovable characters to life for children across the globe through the power of block building,” said Vic Bertrand, Mega’s executive vice president. “These are tremendous properties for expanding our system of blocks.”

“It’s the perfect time to extend our preschool portfolio into the construction toy category by partnering with Mega Brands,” says Tanya Haider, NVCP’s senior vice president, international.
