Two large scale models are on offer - a 762-piece motorised ferris wheel and a motorbike constructed from 534 metal pieces..

More than 100 of these two models have been provided free of charge to a number of key independent and multiple retailers including Smyths and The Entertainer.

Another 100 models are being provided throughout 2010. Meccano is now designing new point of sale models to offer from 2011.

Sue Barratt, Meccano's UK Country Manager, said: “These large models really make an impact and are a great way to demonstrate the versatility of the Meccano brand instore.”

Models are expensive to produce, each taking between five and 10 hours to build, and are provided to each retailer on the basis of turnover. The models are constructed for Meccano by the Royal British Legion.
