The expansion is in direct response to an increase in demand following a resurgence of the brand in the UK and Europe.
Meccano has been manufacturing its ranges in France and China for the last ten years. The new production stream will enable the firm to be more responsive to demand for domestic retailers, as well as in Europe.
The firm hopes the changes will reduce stock issues and reduce current lead times by over eight weeks.
Sue Barratt, country manager for Meccano Toys UK commented: "These forward thinking steps will ensure Meccano is able to offer more flexibility to its customers, whilst adapting efficiently to the demands of our global market.
"This decision reflects the stability of the Meccano brand, despite the worldwide economic crisis and demonstrates the proactive relationship we have established with our retail partners."
