New Lone Ranger play-set toys for upcoming toy/video game hybrid Disney Infinity have been revealed.

These new figures unlock characters and a Lone Ranger themed adventure in the upcoming video game from Disney Interactive.

There are two Lone Ranger figures for Disney Infinity: Lone Ranger and Tonto. These are modelled on the upcoming Disney film out later in June (starring Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer). This is one example how Disney can easily add franchises to Disney Infinity to without developing a whole new video game.

The play-set will come with a translucent piece that is placed on the Infinity Base USB device and automatically unlocks the Lone Ranger on-disc content.

I had some time with the figures and a look at the trailer to go with the release.

It’s an interesting time for the toy-meets-video-game genre as both Skylanders Swap Force and Disney Infinity battle it out for retail attention and customer purchases.

With more news coming for Skylanders Swap Force, I had a look at what we know about the game already:

Both video game/toy products - Disney Infinity and Skylanders Swap Force - will launch this year.

Disney Infinity is due to launch on August 23rd in the UK.
