The LEGO Group is teaming up with Oscar-winner Daniel Junge and the Oscar-nominated Kief Davidson on an official documentary titled Beyond the Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary, reports Deadline.
The feature length documentary will focus on the global phenomenon of LEGO, touching on AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO), fan conventions, LEGO artists and famous LEGO fans.
The film is scheduled to land in cinemas in early 2014.
Daniel Junge picked up an Oscar for his documentary Saving Faces while Kief Davidson was nominated for an Oscar for his documentary short Open Heart.
“LEGO bricks are everywhere, and this documentary is an examination of their footprint in our global community," said Jill Wilfert, VP of Licensing and Entertainment for The LEGO Group.
"The LEGO brick has transcended language, politics, age, race, art, science and technology – all through its ability to draw out the basic human need to create and share.”
Wilfert is also an executive producer on The LEGO Movie, arriving in cinemas on February 7th 2014, meaning early next year is looking like an exciting time for LEGO fans at the movies.
