LeapFrog's learn-to-read-and-write system, LeapReader has become one of the top 40 toys in the market year to date, according to NPD data.

The firm reports that its LeapReader sales 'have surpassed all expectations, with further growth still anticipated' as it takes the number 23 spot in November.

Paul Bennett, VP sales and operations at LeapFrog, said: "We were confident ahead of the July launch as we knew we had a breakthrough product, but we are simply delighted with LeapReader's performance.

"Parents and teaching professionals are championing the system's literacy benefits, proving we have once again delivered a first class product that combines the very best of education and entertainment."

The LeapReader offers three literacy experiences in one, helping children to read, write and learn through listening.

As one of the firm's biggest launches in 2013, the LeapReader was supported by an integrated campaign rom July, including TV advertising, online advertising and direct marketing campaigns.

"With such a wealth of learning experiences to accompany the device, from interactive books and writing workbooks to flash cards and maps, we are confident LeapReader is going to go from strength to strength," concluded Bennett.
