K'Nex unveiled a life-sixed replica of the Bloodhound Supersonic Car at Brooklands Motor and Aviation Museum on Friday, August 29th.

The impressive construction - which ToyNews was invited along to see - has been awarded the Guinness World Record for the World's Largest K'Nex Structure. It took over 380,000 K'Nex parts to build and was unveiled by Richard Noble OBE.

Construction of the model was carried out in Aylesford, Kent by a team from Royal British Legion Industries including ex services personnel. During the lengthy build process, members of the public and Bloodhound fans were also invited along to participate in the record attempt through a number of open days.

The finished Bloodhound K'Nex Car measure 13.38 metres long and 3.87 metres high and, as well as seeing the mighty model unveiled, the public were given the chance to build their own K'Nex cars and race them. The team also provided K'Nex sample packs so that they could continue the fun at home.

"We are delighted with the finished Bloodhound K'Nex Car," said Eileen Thornton, head of marketing for K'Nex. "The public reaction to it said it all. They were awestruck by the sheer size and detail that the build team were able to create and they couldn't wait to get their hands on some K'Nex to see what they could build, too.

"This construction is a perfect showcase to the unique scale building possibilities of K'Nex and to have received the Guinness World Record is the icing on the cake.

"The unveil day was just the start, now this inspiring structure will go on to be seen by many thousands of families at events all over the UK and we also have a wealth of exciting online content to share."

Commissioned by Bloodhound's fan club the 1K Club, the Bloodhound K'Nex Car will aid the Project's work in inspiring a new generation of young scientists and engineers.
