K'Nex launches search for the UK's K'Nexperts

Kids are being challenged to design and build a unique new model, made entirely of K'Nex.

K’Nex has kicked off its search for the UK’s most creative builders with the K’Nexpert Search competition.

Based on the success of the US initiative, the competition invites children to design a unique and imaginative model, built entirely from K’Nex parts.

A winner will be selected in each age group – ranging from six to 14 year olds – who will win a K’Nex building set and an iPad mini, as well as the title of K’Nexpert.

The UK has also introduced a Group category, challenging school classes, Cub, Brownies and engineering clubs to use their K’Nex building skills to win a £1,000 cash prize.

“The K’Nexpert Search has proved a highly popular initiative in the US and one that has continued to grow year on year,” said Eileen Thornton, head of marketing, K’Nex UK.

“Our aim in launching this challenge n the UK is to encourage children to get hands on with K’Nex and explore the creative possibilities that only K’Nex can provide.”

Among the judges for the UK K’Nexpert Search is David Church of the Royal British Legion Industries who has over 15 years K’Nex building experience. His celebrated constructions include a life-sized replica of the Grave Digger Monster Truck and exoskeleton that features in the new K’Nex Big Thing TV commercial.
