VisitScotland and The Highland Council are have embarked on a partnership with Activision Blizzard, twinning the Isle of Skye with the virtual world of Skylands.

The partnership is unsurprisingly the first of its kind, and has been formed in celebration of the upcoming game Skylanders Swap Force.

To commemorate the virtual twinning, the new Skylanders Swap Force character, Wash Buckler toured the island's famous landmarks as well as visiting the children of Portree Primary School.

In addition, Activision has launched a Swap Force takeover of the Isle of Skye website.

VisitScotland's Alan Mackenzie, VisitScotland Information Centre in Portree, said: "The Isle of Skye is renowned for its stunning landscapes, which possess an almost ethereal quality, and its abundance of wildlife, making it the perfect place to virtually twin with Skylands, home to the Skylanders Swap Force.

"We're thrilled to be teaming up with the Skylanders fanchise for this unique partnership, which wil help raise the profile of this beautiful part of the world, encouraging families to enjoy a real-life adventure on the Isle of Skye - nowhere else on Earth comes close."
