Toy companies exhibiting at the 114th North American International Toy Fair have donated a record-breaking number of nearly 55,000 new toys to the Toy Industry Foundation’s Toy Bank.

The toys will now be distributed to thousands of disadvantaged children across the US.

Donations were collected by more than 80 volunteers at the close of last month’s International Toy Fair in New York, with a haul boasting the latest in action figures, outdoor toys, ride-ons, dolls, board games, plush and more.

The toys are currently being separated and sorted and will be sent to TIF’ national partner, Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children and several charities in the New York tri-state area.

“Sadly, some children rarely get to experience the excitement that comes along with a brand new toy. The donations received at Toy Fair will provide many children in need with toys of their very own, and help to bring them joy through play,” said Elizabeth Max, TIF programme manager.

“This year we collected more than $600,000 worth of playthings at Toy Fair as a result of our generous exhibitors.”
