Intelex is eyeing expansion as it plans to take new ranges of microwavable cuddly characters into big name toy retailers.

Its collection has already proved a popular choice within indie gift stores and other high profile retailers including Top Shop, River Island and Debenhams.

“Intelex will be focusing on the big toy retailers during the course of 2013,” sales director Darren Ingram told ToyNews. “The early products found their natural home in the independent gifting sector and pharmacies with a gifting selection because of their heatable nature.

“But with the recent expansion over the last five years into a wider collection of toys there is growing demand for our products on toy shelves. The Cozy Plush range has proven ideal for toy shops.”

Meanwhile, with 44 distributors worldwide, the company is seeing this increase in demand echoed across Europe.

Ingram said: “We have seen a strong uptake for Hooty, particularly in the European countries including France, Spain, Italy and Germany, who have gone a bit Hooty mad.”

July will see the launch of new lines of Warmhearts Ragdolls, three new Hooty characters including Hooty Snowy and two new Socky Dolls, Curtis and Bellamy.

Intelex is also building on its licensed range, with a new three-year licence for a heatable Boofle, which is launching at Harrogate’s July show.
