The man who created the hit board game title Pandemic Legacy is joining a cast of high profile designers to celebrate Reading indie retailer Eclectic Games’ 10th anniversary this week.
Matt Leacock – the name also behind Modiuphius Games’ Thunderbirds title – will join the likes of Zev Shlasinger, the publisher of Pandemic Legacy and Polish game designer and publisher Ignacy Trzewiczek in celebrating the retailer’s milestone year.
The award-winning, family-owned retailer, Eclectic Games turns ten years old on Thursday, March 10th and will be hosting its own Birthday Party events on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th, during which board game fans will get the chance to meet and talk with the table top gaming celebrities.
Leacock, Shlasinger and Trewiczek will be joined by James Wallis, a designer, publisher and lecturer in games design at London South Bank University as well as Chris Birch, owner of Modiphius Games.
The programme for the weekend includes seminars on game design and publishing, the first Pandemic Survival Tournament for 2016 and Crisis Mode Thunderbirds demonstration games, a pub quiz and the opportunity for attendees to win Dinner with the Designers as well as a host of other games to be played, including Giant Pandemic.
In January this year, Pandemic Legacy was billed as possibly ‘the best game ever created’ by the Guardian.
Eclectic Games won the Retailer of the Year accolade in the 2014 Reading Retail Awards and is championed by locals as the community hub for Reading’s gamers of all stripes.
