An independent fashion trader has branched out in to toy retail, opening a new toyshop opposite his clothing store in Stroud.

Simon Powell owns Brilliant Disguise, a fashion emporium on the Stroud High Street with his business partner Jane Mahoney-Wightman.

Powell has now decided to branch out, opening The Toy Shop with his girlfriend Sally Bradley, reports the Stroud News and Journal.

His new store will offer a range of products including toys from Playmobil, Brio and Djeco.

Powell said: “Lots of very happy children and one four year old was completely overwhelmed. She had to come back twice to decide what she wanted.”

At over 60,000 square feet of retail space and interactive displays, The Big Shop (formerly Snetterton Park Models) has been in operation for 15 years. ToyNews talks to MD Trevor Warner.
