Hong Kong toy exports fall ten per cent

Decline in 2009 is reported as Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair kicks off.

Exports from the country were down to 88.55 billion HK dollars ($11.35 billion) in the first 11 months of 2009, according to figures released by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Toy exports to Russia fell 57.1 per cent, while exports to the US were down 23.6 per cent and those to the EU dipped eight per cent. Exports to Czech, however, rose 58.2 per cent

Baby products exports reached approximately 6 billion HK dollars (726 million U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months of 2009. Its top export markets were the US, the UK, Macao, Italy and France.

The 36th Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair, opened yesterday and features around 2,000 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions.
