Hamleys showed off the full range of new Subbuteo products at its Regent Street store on Tuesday.
As part of its re-launch campaign, Subbuteo has been named as the official sponsor of this year's Table Football World Cup and four players from England's Under 12s table football team were at Hamleys to show their skills against willing opponents.
The retailer reports that initial sales of the revamped classic toy have been strong.
Claire Smith, category manager at Hamleys said: "Subbuteo is an iconic game enjoyed by lads and dads. Having been away for the market for so long it’s great to have it back on the shelves. Initial sales have been strong, particularly online, and retailing at £40 its fantastic value for hours of play."
Kye, Derrin, Daniel and James from Kent Invicta Table Football Club showed their table football skills at Hamleys.
Paul Lamond Games unveiled the new Subbuteo at Toy Fair and teamed up with Hasbro – owner of the brand – and table football specialists NiV to improve the classic game.
Richard Pain, MD of Paul Lamond Games said: "It’s fantastic that the new enhanced Subbuteo is now in the shops and that retailers can finally offer fans the game after it’s been off the shelves for so long.
"This looks set to be a strong year for the iconic brand and we are delighted that Subbuteo will gain an even greater presence in the public eye as the sponsor of the Table Football World Cup this summer."
The new Subbuteo launched with licensed teams including Manchester United and Chelsea together with an extended range of colour strips and the England, Scotland and Ireland national teams.
Subbuteo is now available in Toys R Us, John Lewis (Oxford Street), Toymaster branches, selected Waterstones and independent retailers.
