It is believed that the sale of the 30 Bear Factory stores reduced her role considerably and she has now parted company with the toy specialist. David Pope now heads up buying at Hamleys with John Wooton in charge of stock.

Nick Mather, Hamleys CEO commented: "As a single branded business, it has become necessary for us to review our requirements going forward, resulting in the need for a much tighter central overhead base.

"Sue has been with the Group for two years and during that time has had a significant influence on the product offering available in our stores today in terms of development, quality, ranging and selection. Sue’s professionalism and personal integrity have been a real asset to both her own team and the business in general. We thank Sue for her contribution and wish her all the very best for the future."
