A portrait of Marilyn Monroe created entirely out of Galt arts and crafts products has raised £2,050 for the Toy Trust charity.

The mosaic masterpiece, created by artist Ed Chapman, was unveiled at this year's Toy Fair by TV personality and celebrity art connoisseur, Timothy Wonnacott.

In an online auction for the piece, over 30 bids were made for the piece comprised of Galt Art Jars, Fun Buttons, Cotton reels and Mosaic Masterpieces kits, along with various paints, crayons and pens.

The auction closed on Monday, January 27th and was won by Emma Messenger from Messenger Enterprises, owner of several Toymaster stores.

Messenger said: "The Marilyn portrait is a fantastic piece of art, which I just fell in love with the moment I set eyes on it at Toy Fair.

"It's only when you look at the picture up close that you see the amount of detail and the many Galt materials that have been used.

"We are so excited to have won the auction and are very pleased to be giving to the Toy Trust. We now look forward to displaying the artwork around all our stores, to inspire as many people as possible."

John McDonnell, managing director, Galt Toys, added: "We'd like to thank everyone who placed a bid on this iconic masterpiece and are over the moon that we've been able to raise such a substantial amount for the Toy Trust charity.

"The bidding hadn't stopped since the auction began and it has been hugely exciting to watch the bids go up and up."
