As an independent title, Nitro will widen its editorial remit to cover all major children’s TV content, while retaining its focus on 5- to 13-year old boys. The magazine promises news, toys, comic strips and features, covering characters from popular kids’ TV shows, films and games.

The mag will relaunch on Thursday, 3rd September, retailing at £2.99, and will cover-mount at least four gifts per issue. Previously, Future has worked with partners including Tomy, Gormiti and Bakugan to offer exclusive toys for all readers.

With a print run of 45,000 copies a month, Nitro! will be available in major supermarkets, high street stores and independent retailers.

James Binns, publishing director of Future’s Games and Kids portfolio, said: "Our team has enjoyed four fantastic years working with Jetix, but now the TV channel is rebranding, and Future is grabbing the opportunity to develop a new, fully owned property. Relaunching as Nitro the key product change will be a new-found flexibility to cover huge kids shows like The Simpsons, Dr Who and Ben 10, as well as continuing to cover old favourites like Pokemon. We’ll give our audience an unmatchable mix of content and value for money.

"Future’s position as the world’s leading games media company also makes Nitro a perfect home for games aimed at younger players – a much neglected community."
