Fundex buys puzzle firm

What?s in Ned?s Head manufacturer, Fundex Games, has acquired Great American Puzzle Factory for an undisclosed sum.

In addition to its traditional puzzles, Great American Puzzle Factory’s products include NAMiTs portable games, One Tough Puzzle brainteasers and a range of licensed products from John Deere, Crayola and Jelly Belly.

Fundex Games is best known for its board games, dice games and card games, including the best-seller, Phase 10, for mass and specialty retailers in North America. Fundex also has a line of outdoor products, including lawn and swimming pool games.

“Great American Puzzle Factory is a strategic addition to Fundex since it will extend our business into new categories which share a common consumer and customer base,” said Chip Voigt, president of Fundex Games.

“This acquisition supports our steady growth plan and brings an innovative product line of award-winning puzzles and games, targeted to both children and adults, to our portfolio.”

Fundex will relocate Great American Puzzle Factory’s operations to its headquarters in Indiana.

“Fundex Games will provide outstanding creative resources to our award-winning product line as well as strong marketing support to build our puzzle and game business” said Pat Duncan, president and founder of Great American Puzzle Factory, who will join the Fundex management team.

“The combined company is a perfect union of strengths and will be a dynamic and diverse choice for our customers.”
