The NPD Group has strengthened its Nursery retail sales panel with four more chains now on board.
John Lewis, Sainsbury’s, Babies R Us and Kiddicare join the current retail panelists, bringing the total up to 16. The plan is to have them integrated by the end of the summer.
The four retailers will provide point-of-sales data for all major nursery and baby equipment categories. NPD says they will complement the existing panel “to deliver the most representative view of the UK nursery market since its launch in 2007”.
Jez Fraser-Hook, UK executive director of NPD toys, nursery and licence, said: “We are delighted that these prominent retailers have agreed to participate in our panel.
“The addition of these four new retailers, including two of the largest specialists in Britain, Babies R Us and Kiddicare, will add significant value to the information we report from our retail panel, and provide the industry with its most detailed view of the market to date.”
The news comes after NPD upgraded its toy retail sales panel last year, with the arrival of six new retailers.
