The first International Toy Industry Open Golf Championship will take place on Sunday, May 31st at The Grove.

The event has been organised by Vivid's senior vice president international Jonathan Busher and Longdrive Ltd in association with Distoy.

"Over my 21 years at Vivid I have become aware of many keen amateur golfers in the Industry," Busher told ToyNews.

"There are local golf events but none that has been established specifically to become the event for the industry with a worldwide entry list. The Distoy Show has become an important event in June and attracts many International visitors and so the timing and location of the 1st International Toy Industry Open Golf Championship is geared to coincide with this."

Moving forward, the event will be held annually, not always in the UK, and the entry list will expand to help the Championship become a major event in the toy industry calendar.

Close to 40 people from the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and UK have entered already, but the organisers would like to get this number up to 72.

"Entry is open to anyone with a golf handicap and The Grove is a wonderful venue with many attractions including a SPA which partners and non golf-players will be able to enjoy," added Busher.

"Accommodation and the SPA is available at specially negotiated discount rates and anyone who works in the industry is invited to enter.

The entry fee is £100. This includes:

  • Green Fees
  • Golf Buggy
  • Breakfast
  • 3 course meal
  • Post Golf Drinks
  • Valet parking and more

To enter, contact golf@longdrive.uk.com to be sent a formal invitation.
