Esdevium Games has secured four officially licensed lines based on The Hunger Games.

In the UK the film - based on the books by Suzanne Collins - took £4.9 million in its opening weekend, making it the biggest release of the year so far, while in the US it became the third highest grossing debut movie of all time, bringing in $155 million. Experts are tipping the kids franchise to become the film industry's top earner in 2012.

Available to the trade now from Esdevium are The Hunger Games District 12 board game and The Hunger Games Jabberjay card game and launching in autumn/winter 2012 are collectable blind bag figurines and a new strategy game.

“The Hunger Games box office figures have been staggering and everybody seems to be talking about it right now,” said Ben Hogg, marketing executive at Esdevium Games.

“With more films to come it looks like being a huge property for the next few years and we are delighted to have such a great range of products at this early stage.”
