Games specialist Drumond Park has reported a massive uplift in product sales over the summer.
Co-founder and marketing director Claire McCool told ToyNews that the weather, ‘staycations’ and recession-consciousness helped boost summer sales.
“They have definitely resulted in an upsurge in summer game sales this year,” she said.
“People appear to have been spending more time indoors. Traditional board games and clever action games which everyone can enjoy are a great way to get the family communicating and spending quality time together.
“Because of this increasing trend, we now run an interactive all-year consumer awareness reminder programme for all our current games and magic products, and are extremely active on social media – especially the biggest and best parenting and women’s interest websites.”
Drumond Park has its own mummy blogger panel, too.
It also expects strong Christmas sales, partly due to another massive TV campaign which will advertise 19 products in total, including new product Pumpazing.
“All five of our new 2012 games have sold in extremely well, and we are expecting another really good Christmas season,” added McCool.
“We feel that one of the keys to maintaining our position as the UK’s number one independent games company is that almost all our games are designed and developed in-house, and our pre-Christmas TV advertising spend gets bigger and bigger every year.
“All the major titles also have their own carefully co-ordinated multi-media PR, promotional and sampling programmes.”
