Dreadball Xtreme Kickstarter raises $100,000 in 37 minutes

The Kickstarter campaign for 'underground sports' board game Dreadball Xtreme raised its $100,000 target in just 37 minutes.

The game, from Mantic Games, sees two teams battle it out on the pitch to outscore each other, with a customisable battlefield, no referee and a sponsor figures that can influence the game.

"We are really happy with our first day performance of over $250,000 and raising the funds required in 37 mins, as always we have to thank the generosity of our backers who make this all possible," Chris Palmer, Mantic Games' marketing and Kickstarter co-ordinator told ToyNews.

"We can’t wait to see where this finishes in March."

At the time of writing, the game has raised $346,160 and has 16 days left to go.

Mantic Games enjoyed a similar level of enthusiastic backing when it took Mars Attacks! The Game to Kickstarter and raised $50,000 in 13 minutes. Mars Attacks went on to raise $558,076 from a $50,000 goal and is expected to arrive in Q3 2014.
