The new deal comes eighteen months after the brand first launched and will see Dowman Soft Touch producing a range of plush featuring Hari and five other characters from the series – hand puppets and finger puppets will also be produced.

The products are set to go on sale through gift shops, department stores and other retail outlets in the autumn.

Hari is a young elephant that stars in a series of books incorporating a subtle safety message that teaches children how to avoid unintended injury.

The brand is the creation of father and son team Tristan-Paul and Tristan-Sean McGee who own and market the property through their own company – Hari’s World.

Dominic Whittle MD of Dowman Imports said: “As soon as I saw Hari's World I was absolutely confident that it will be a winner and perfect for the Soft Touch brand. The characters are extremely well conceived and very engaging for youngsters.

"The whole concept really draws children in and I'm delighted to be associated with a character which has an important message for modern society, Hari's World stimulates thought in children and parents alike and I'm sure will help prevent unintended injury.

"The characters themselves are perfect for a range of plush toys, colourful and cute, and I'm certain they will fly off the shelves wherever they are presented.”

Hari’s World MD Tristan-Sean McGee added: "From a licensing point of view it [the brand] has huge potential across traditional categories, as this deal with Dowman Soft Touch demonstrates, but we also envisage a move into specific categories which encourage child safety - this could be anything from stair gates to sun cream and is a virtually untapped market, so we are tremendously excited about the future for Hari’s World.”
