The Marketing Store will enter the retail market for the first time this summer with the launch of its Marvel Super Heroes Squirters.

Designed to be sold as impulse, pocket money items, the collection of 12 squirters is produced under a licensing agreement with Marvel, features characters from two up-coming Marvel Studios films Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk as well as from recent blockbusters including Spider-Man 3 and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Packaged in blister packs of two, the squirters will initially be available in the UK, Ireland and Spain through retailers such as Tesco and Woolworths. The firm is in talks with Marvel to take the range into other territories.

The direct to retailer launch marks a change in strategy for The Marketing Store, which has up until now produced more than one billion promotional toys for its clients including Nestlé and McDonald’s.

Robert Pursey, the firm’s account director said: “It’s a natural progression for a company that develops so many quality toys as The Marketing Store to go into the retail arena. We work closely with leading character licensing companies and have a long-standing relationship with Marvel, and our design and engineering team were enthusiastic about seeing where it could go.”
