Clothing, books and perfumes and aftershaves are topping the nation's Christmas shopping list this year, a survey from comparison website, Gocompare has revealed.
Traditional board games and toys, jigsaw puzzles and dolls and action figures did make the list, scoring ninth, eleventh and twelfth place respectively.
The survey questioned over 2,000 UK adults about the gifts they intend to give this Chritmas, revealing that on average, people were planning to spend a total of £367 on presents, parties, cards, food and drink.
50 per cent of those questioned will be shopping for clothes, 39 per cent for books and 37 per cent for perfume and aftershave.
Claire Peate, customer insight manager at Gocompare, com, said: "Our survey suggests that this year people are more likely to be exchanging traditional rather than technological gifts, with books, film and perfumes being popular choices.
"Just over a third of people say they will give cash, allowing recipients to choose their own present, rather than buying them something they don't want."
