Mega Brands has announced a new $2.7 million training programme to maintain the jobs of 175 existing design workers in Montreal in addition to hiring 30 more employees.

The investment will be backed by a Quebec provincial grant to the tune of $600,000, which will create the new jobs in the product design and research centre.

A spokesperson for the firm said: “We use the latest technology in our design centre in Montreal, and we’ll be looking for qualified young people who will learn hands-on how to use the equipment and develop their education in design”.

The programme also aims to strengthen the firm’s international competitiveness and help it achieve its constant push for creativity.
