Bike Ride gears up for 2008

Preparations for next year’s Toy Trust Big Kids Bike Ride have already started.
Publish date:

The 2008 event will be a John O'Groats to Lands End and back again relay with 24 teams . It will start and finish for all supporters on the same day Saturday 17th May 2008.

The Toy Trust is looking for 24 sponsors who will guarantee the sponsorship of £5,000 per leg and will organise a team or teams to take part in their section.

Each section will be around 80 miles. Once confirmation of the sponsors is received there will be a draw to determine which leg they will get. Those that have taken part before will be put into the draw for a route in the opposite direction.

Toy Trust chairman Robert Mann explained: “This year’s event will, as last year, have a social element to it in that teams will be starting from a point where another team will be going in the other direction, Teams will meet halfway with another team coming in the other direction and at the finish meet a team coming the other way. All clear???

“This will be a great time for you to organise a dinner the night before or after the event with other sponsors.”

Each team will be responsible for their own support vehicle and transport. Although a route will be supplied, each team can arrange their own route to suit the riders as long as they complete the distance between the start and finish points.

A full sponsor pack will be created which will include routes, hire company details for support vehicles, how to prepare for the day, methods of sponsorship and details of how to register at the Just Giving Web site.

Teams should reply directly to Robert Mann if they wish to take part by the 28th September 2007.

The draw for routes will take place on 28th September to allow all teams as much preparation time as possible both for training and general organisation. A meeting will be held at the Excel Toy Fair on the Saturday at 10am so that any questions can be answered and to introduce the teams.
