And almost 100 traders, publishers and exhibitors used the weekend to demonstrate the lates in board games, card games, role-play and miniatures.

The event also played host to a number of costumed groups, hundreds of seats in roleplaying games and tournaments in 20 different games including national events such as the 60 player Xwing UK Nationals and the UK Settlers finals.

Both tournaments will send its winners to European and World finals in the US, Vienna and Germany.

Richard Denning, event organiser, said: "The event saw a huge rise in the scale of space. Attendance went up by 50 per cent due to many people staying much longer and unique attendees rose by 25 per cent.

"We have had many companies looking to expand their space and new companies coming in next year having visited this year.

"But we did not neglect the little guy - we had even more smaller traders than before and a breath taking rray of demo games."

Coiledspring Games had a large presence at the event.

Roger Martin, MD of Coiledspring Games, said: "We've supported the UK Games Expo since its inception and watched it grow year on year.

"It's a show we never miss and highly recommend it. It's a great way to meet fans of our games and get feedback on new releases and we fully expect to see more mainstream exhibitors there in the future.

"While Expo is still a gamers paradise, the family zone has grown beyond recognition - long may it continue."
