The biggest member of the Hexbug toy family will hit shelves this year, Innovation First International has announced.

The Hexbug Scarab XL and Hexbug Spider XL remote control products are both 65 per cent larger than their original versions, come with a £39.99 price tag and are suitable for kids aged eight and over.

The Spider XL is the biggest Hexbug to date. It's seven inches long, seven inches wide, 5.5 inches high and weighs 11.2 ounces.

It features 360 degree steering, an LED forward eye, and two-channel, user selectable radio-controlled remote control, which operates in slow, medium and fast speeds moving forwards, with a reverse option. It's available in red or blue.

Three AA batteries are required in each Hexbug Spider XL and one 9V battery is required in each remote.

The smaller Scarab XL is a beetle-like robotic bug that skitters around on six angled legs. It features '7-way steering', a hard, transparent exoskeleton casing, and is capable of popping from its back to its feet if placed upside down. It's available in blue or green.

It's 4.75 inches long, seven inches wide, 3.5 inches high and weighs 10.15 ounces.

Its two-channel remote operates in three forward moving speeds (slow, medium and fast), and one reverse speed. It uses three AAA batteries and one 9V battery is required in each remote.

Innovation First has also shown off its Tagamoto car toys at the recent Toy Fair shows.
